After hearing this, Im legitimately waiting for the N64 style music pack

(1 edit)

Would love to do that, but because the N64 didn't (essentially) have a sound chip, there isn't an N64 sound. But if you have suggestions for games you love from that console, I could get the soundfonts together and compose a music pack out of them :)

Thanks so much for the Reply. I suppose that makes a lot of sense because I never see any N64 music packs just 8/16bit or "Epic" music. To me N64 has a distict sound but guess is because it was such a transitionary console no one really took stock of the N64 sound limitations. And I know when Modding music into N64 games (like Mario Party) you need to use Midi songs and everyone has long abanonded midi sounds... anyway here would be my suggestions:

  1. Super Mario 64,
  2. Mario Kart 64,
  3. Quest 64,
  4. Mario Party 3,
  5. Mario Tennis
  6. Star Fox 64,
  7. Smash Bros
  8. Castlevania
  9. Sin and Punishment,
  10. Bomberman 64/Hero,
  11. Golden Eye,
  12. Perfect Dark,
  13. Conker's Bad Fur Day/Banjo Kazooie/DonkeyKong 64
  14. Zelda OOT/Majora's Mask
  15. Rayman 2
  16. Pokemon Stadium 1/2

I hope this isn't over board, but these are the games I think of when some one says N64. I left out a few but these are like my essentials. Anyway thanks again.

Would certainly be an interesting project. I'll see how easy it is to find the soundfonts and what quality they're at. If possible, it would be awesome to make a music pack using those games sounds. Thank you for this suggestion, I never really thought of doing it before but since I grew up with the console, it would be a lot of fun to make!
